Tundra
The barren plains of the tundra are inhospitable to most life. The permafrost only allows shrubs, bushes and mosses to grow, with the exception of a few dwarf willows and birches. The weather can be the most unrelenting aspect of this area. Strong gusts of wind pierce through even the warmest of pelts and only in summer does the temperature raise above the freezing point. The permafrost melts and creates swamps, bogs and lakes, which allows for million of insects. Still, the tundra isn't entirely deserted: it is the home of the caribou, the lemming, the Arctic hare and the Arctic fox, as well as wolves - as long as they are adapted to the extreme environment.

Fjords
With its high mountains and the low valleys, the last traces of old glaciers, the fjords are a stunning landscape. Most valleys are nowadays submerged under water and the mountain slopes are no longer covered in snow and ice, but overgrown with coniferous forests. Prey is relatively abundant and most predators hunt grouse, deer, wild hares and reindeers. Summer days in the fjords are generally long, warm and sunny, though the weather can change quickly into a raging rainstorm. In winter, the great mountains are covered in a thick blanket of snow and most lakes are completely frozen over. The temperature stays below zero in the multitude of the shortest days, still making it a rather rough place to live.

Redwood Forest
The redwood forest is a jungle with enormous trees. The ancient evergreens tower above all living creatures and make for a somewhat magical surrounding when one walks between them. Due to heavy seasonal rainfalls and fog, the forest is rather damp. The moisture offers protection against wildfire and one can find various streams. Besides redwood trees, the vegetation consists mainly of a few other coniferous trees, ferns, mosses and mushrooms. The forest provides habitat for a variety of animals. The tree density makes hunting a challenge, especially when searching for prey that has mastered the art of camouflage. Small prey include chipmunks, squirrels and mice, but the forest is also the home of deer and elk. But be aware of the fact that you might not be the only predator around...

Settlers Village
At the edge of the forest, humans have built a settlement. The village consists of a few houses and meadows. At the edge, you can find an abandoned factory. Most animals stay away from the humans, given the extreme danger they pose. With their weapons, they are able to take out most animals with a few shots. Wolves who approach the human settlement are either too curious or desperate for food. The sheep and cows who graze in the meadows are easy prey, but the humans are fiercely protective of their cattle. The conflict between humans and wolves is an ancient and still ongoing strife between the two species, and it is unlikely that it will end soon.

River
All of the water in the area assembles in the river, which flows through the boreal forest. The many rapids and waterfalls make it a dangerous place to cross. Animals who fall in will meet certain death: the strong current pulls them under the surface until they drown, or they will break most of their bones on the rocks inside the river itself. There are three places where the river flows calmer and where the water shallow enough for one to survive the crossing. These highways are clusters of activity from all kinds of animals, so attractive to different predators.

Fields
The open fields are characterised by their vastness. With the exception of a few hills, there is nothing but grass for as far as the eye can see. Since there are no trees one can use as shields from the blaring sun or roaring storms, most animals prefer the shelter of the forests. Shelter from the elements, but also from predators. It is easy to see movement on the open plains, which results in certain challenges when it comes to hunting. There are a few deer and elk herds who graze on the open plains, but they are hard to catch for a solitary wolf. Most rogues prey on rodents such as rabbits, who live in abundance - especially in the hills.

Caldera
The caldera serves as a silent reminder of how powerful Mother Nature can be. The enormous volcano lost most of her lava during the last eruption, resulting in her own destruction. The slopes collapsed and formed a valley in the middle. Over the millions of years, the valley gradually filled up with water. In the middle of the lake, there's a small island. Only the most adventurous creatures venture up the slopes of the caldera. The rocks are ragged and can cut in one's paws if they are not careful. Most creatures have much respect for the caldera, feeling the power it once possessed. Of course the question remains, will she ever rouse from her slumber?

Canyons
The canyons are located in the south, where the world is hot and dry. Most predators prey on rodents or small deer. The river has cut its way through the rocks and created a hundred meters deep ravine. Nowadays, the stream is shallow and it is easy to walk through the pits of the canyon. In early spring though, the water levels rise due to melting snow and ice and precipitation fallen in winter. The canyons become flooded and animals who are inexperienced with life in the gorge are easily swept up in the flood and drown. The previous harmless trinkle of water turns into a raging monster. One ought to be careful when navigating the canyons, since it is hard to predict when the next flash flood turns the world upside down.
