Astra was born in the Crasto pack in the Licae region, on the northern side of the Split mountains. She had a rather peaceful first year, with the only major event the death of her sister who was killed by a wolf from a rivalling pack. What she didn't like was the strict order her parents kept in the pack. Instead of sticking to the rules, Astra preferred to make her own decisions and to go where she wanted to. This created quite some conflict between her and Kahlan and Rolfe. Still, being a social creature, she loved hanging out with her siblings and friends.
Although Astra adored her family, she left the Crasto pack when she became two years old. A few months later, she arrived in Canavar where she stayed for the time being. With all the curious places, Astra realised that the area was bound to hide a whole lot of adventures and she can't wait to experience them all.

Astra is a slim build she-wolf with long, slender paws. The colour of her fur is generally a greyish brown with a mixture of white and darker areas. Her most distinctive feature are the two splotches of sand-coloured fur, diagonally above her eyes. When she grows her winter fur, her markings become darker and the hairs itself denser, which make her seem a bit taller than she actually is. Her eyes are a shade between amber and brown, depending on the light. In general, Astra looks like a healthy and strong she-wolf.

ESTP. Astra is neither a leader or a follower and prefers the freedom of making her own decisions. With her tendency to leap before she looks, Astra became quite resourceful from having to fix her mistakes on the go - learning from experience is what works best for her. She thoroughly enjoys living on the edge, which can make her quite reckless. When it comes to meeting stranger wolves, though, Astra is alert and reserved at first. She lost a sister to another wolf pack, so she is likely to analyze the situation first before approaching someone. Among friends, she is a lot more active and friendly. She loves playing and teasing and is generally energetic, which makes it unlikely for her to settle down somewhere.
